Photography and the 23rd Psalm

Photography moves me in a way that little else does. I have loved it since I was a little girl. There is just something about looking through the camera lens and capturing a specific moment in time, or a particular observation you've made. It is completely captivating.

I find it equally fascinating to look at photos taken by someone else. Some just completely take my breath away, like this picture that my friend Christin took while scuba diving in Koh Tao, Thailand. I love seeing how vibrant God made His creation in the depths of the ocean. It is simply stunning.

The digital camera I currently own has been very good to me. However, it's an older model that doesn't take pictures fast enough to capture what I'm seeing quite frequently. This has proven to be rather frustrating to me. Since good, smaller digital cameras are less expensive than they used to be, my goal is to get a new one soon.

I have another friend who is taking part in something he calls, “Project 365 – Take a picture of something random or unique everyday.” I want to start doing something like that. It's been itching at me for awhile now, so I guess it's time to scratch...

Pictures can take me down memory lane. A prime example of this are the pictures of my family that my Dad has been posting lately on Facebook. I've seen most of these pictures before, but it's been quite awhile since the last time I did. Many of them have led to amusing discussions. All of them have brought memories flooding back into my mind. He's also posted some I've never seen before. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I can't wait to see more. Keep 'em coming, Dad.

So how does all this talk about photography bring me to the 23rd Psalm, anyway? Well, I'll tell you... I recently got an email from a good friend of mine. It was a great summary of the 23rd Psalm, with some captivating pictures. The piece in it's entirety really spoke to me, so I wanted to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...

The Lord is my Shepherd = That's Relationship!

I shall not want = That's Supply!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures = That's Rest!

He leadeth me beside the still waters = That's Refreshment!

He restoreth my soul = That's Healing!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness = That's Guidance!

For His name sake = That's Purpose!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death = That's Testing!

I will fear no evil = That's Protection!

For Thou art with me = That's Faithfulness!

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me = That's Discipline!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies = That's Hope!

Thou annointest my head with oil = That's Consecration!

My cup runneth over = That's Abundance!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life = That's Blessing!

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord = That's Security!

Forever = That's Eternity!

  2. Thanks, Dad! I think I would've been out in the snow more today taking some pics, but walking in all that snow kinda made me nervous. Didn't want to fall. LOL!
